Let’s Beat Up Dreamhost – AAAH!!! (read: William Wallace Battle Scream)

Doesn’t matter if as soon as possible (within the hour) there was a message in users’ control panels letting everyone know what happened. Doesn’t matter that they admitted their mistake, communicated promptly and solved the crisis timely. Nor the fact that they promised to refund incorrect charges made to members.

They got beaten up.

Shit happens. None of us are perfect. They said they were wrong, they said “Sorry” and they fixed it quickly. And people are still mad at them. For being a bit funny about it in the blog and in the newsletter. For thinking that it was possible to have some fun and laugh at themselves for a minute (it was actually a¬†good post.)

Am I the only one that feels this way? Maybe some people should lighten up?

We’re one of the ones that got douched by dreamhost. I was willing to be the “oh, they’ll fix it” guys till I read their blog.

If posting drug references, jokes about REAL downtime and REAL accounting errors, and utter lack of seriousness and RESPONSIBILITY are how their business is run…….and if guys like the author here are willing to stand up for them when they do so…..

it’s just a sad window into the IT world of “dude, whatever” jokesters and losers running the backbone of the internet.

I am sorry to hear that you got douched by Dreamhost. I am also sorry to hear that they didn’t fix it as soon as humanly possible, and I’m sorry to hear that they didn’t promise to refund all incorrect charges and to take responsibility for accidental overdraft fees. I am also sorry that Dreamhost did not communicate with their clients and were not honest about the origin of the problem.

You have every right to be pissed. In fact, if I were you I would go ahead and sue them.

Now if you excuse me I have to get back to my imaginary job and make some imaginary dough so I can pay all the imaginary bills, including my imaginary kids’ imaginary schools.

awww, did dreamhost hurt your feelings???

lol losers! shit happens man, i think the approach they took apologizing with a couple jokes thrown in was perfectly fine. Rather than meaningless, ass kissing corporate ramblings about made up issues. but then again, maybe some of you are so trained to hearing bullshit you just couldnt accept an apology without one.
